Eni’s Nigeria refinery revamp deal in doubt
ABUJA, May 31, 2017 – Plans by Eni’s local unit in Nigeria and domestic player <a href='https://theenergyyear.com/companies-institutions/oando/’>Oando to rehabilitate the Port Harcourt refinery are in doubt after a Senate vote on Tuesday.
The body voted to halt the agreement on the grounds that it was insufficiently transparent. The Senate will now work to establish a committee to investigate the award of the repair, operate and maintenance work.
Reports on talks between Oando and Agip first surfaced earlier this month. Eni was also expected to announce an memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on the construction of a 150,000-bpd greenfield refinery, according to minister Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.
